Greer County Jail Roster Overview

The Greer County Sheriff's Office runs the county jail in Mangum. Sheriff Steven McMahan has led the office since 2023. It books and holds people arrested across the county. The office posts a public jail roster online. The roster lists who is in custody right now. Each entry is sorted by booking date. You can search the list by name. The data comes straight from the booking system, so it shifts through the day as people are booked in or released.

The roster is one tool, not the whole picture. It shows current county jail custody only. It does not list people held in state prison, federal lockup, or another county's jail. People who post bond or finish their time drop off the list. A name that never appears may mean the person was not booked here, or was released before the page refreshed.

Using the Greer County Inmate Roster

Roster Search Fields

The roster keeps its search simple. There is one main name field and a few basic controls. The page does not ask for a booking number or a date. The table below lists what the search accepts.

When a Greer County Inmate Is Missing

Sometimes a search returns nothing. At a recent check, the Sheriff's Office reported no inmates in custody at all. The page then shows a message that it cannot find the person, or that the roster may be updating. A blank result does not always mean the person was never here. The roster only holds people who are in the jail at that moment.

Note: VINE reports custody status and sends release alerts, but it is not a full warrant database or a substitute for calling the jail directly.

What a Greer County Inmate Record Shows

The roster reported no current inmates when it was inspected, so a live profile could not be opened. Still, the page describes what each entry holds. An entry should show in-custody status, the booking date, the charges, and added booking notes. The Sheriff's Office app advertises more, including photos and fuller booking data. The charges line names the offense; the full filed accusation lives in the county arrest records and court charges.

After a Greer County Arrest

It helps to know what happens between an arrest and a roster entry. A person arrested in the county is taken to the jail and booked. Booking records the name, the charges, and the date and time. Staff also classify where the person will be housed. Once that intake is done, the name can show on the roster. Greer County Jail vs State Prison

A county jail and a state prison are not the same place. The Greer County Jail holds people who are waiting for trial or serving short sentences. Once a person is convicted of a felony and sent to prison, the state takes over. The Oklahoma Department of Corrections then holds and tracks that person. The county roster no longer applies.

So a name that leaves the county roster may turn up in the state system. The Oklahoma DOC offender lookup is the place to check.

The DOC lookup covers people in state prison or on state supervision. The county roster does not track either group, so the two tools complete each other.

The move from a county jail to state prison is not instant. A person stays in the county jail through trial and sentencing. Transfer to the Department of Corrections follows a felony sentence. During that gap, the county roster is still the right place to look. After transfer, the state lookup takes over.

Requesting Greer County Booking Records

Not every booking record sits on the public roster. Detailed jail, incident, and arrest records are held by the Sheriff's Office. You can ask for them through the records division. The agency describes the process on its records request page. Requests are taken in person Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., or by email to administration@greercountysheriff.org. Incident reports and arrest logs are the common asks. Some records need a subpoena before they can be released. Note: booking detail beyond the public roster is not always open, so plan for a written request and possible delays on older or sensitive files.

Greer County Jail Visitation Rules

Visits at the Greer County Jail are video only. The Sheriff's Office states that no in-person visits are offered. All video visits run through a vendor named City Tele Coin. After you create an account, you download the City Tele Coin app or use its website, pick the facility, and set up a remote account for the inmate. You can also send emails through the same system.

Greer County Jail Mail Rules

Mail to an inmate must follow strict rules. Staff open and check all mail for contraband before it reaches an inmate. Bringing or helping with contraband can lead to charges in court. The rules below keep letters moving and protect the sender.

• All mail is opened and checked for contraband before it reaches an inmate.
• Each letter must show the sender's first and last name and a return address, or it is sent back.
• Inmates may not write to inmates in this or any other facility.
• Newspapers, magazines, Polaroid photos, and more than three to five photos per letter are not allowed.
• Pens, pencils, stamps, envelopes, blank paper, musical cards, and anything that cannot be scanned are barred.
• Address mail to c/o Greer County Sheriff's Office, Inmate Name, 105 S. Pennsylvania Ave., Mangum, OK 73554.

Note: photos and letters that meet these limits still pass through a scan, so send copies rather than items you cannot replace.
